How to earn from the screens in your venue

Venues earn from their screens by letting brands show ads on the TVs they already use for menus and offers. With VERSE you choose how much time each hour goes to ads and which categories and brands to block. Brands book that time, every play is logged, and your share of the ad revenue is paid to you.

At a glance

  • Your own content comes first; ads only play in the time you give.
  • You block categories, brands and competitors, and every ad is checked before its first play.
  • What you earn depends on your footfall, your hours, the ad time you give and demand for your area.
  • Prefer no ads? You can opt for a subscription that keeps the venue ad-free.

How earning from your screens works

Your TV already shows menus, offers or the class timetable. With Screen Manager that is free. If you choose to, you give part of each hour to ads:

  1. You set how much time each hour goes to ads, and what to block.
  2. Brands and agencies book that time on screens like yours, by place and hour.
  3. The VERSE TV app plays the ads between your content and logs every play.
  4. Your share of the ad revenue builds up in your account, and you are paid out.

Who buys the ad time

Three kinds of buyer book the same screens:

  • Local businesses and brands in Ads Manager, choosing the places and hours near their customers.
  • Agencies planning campaigns for their clients from one workspace.
  • Trading desks buying programmatically from their DSP. See programmatic DOOH.

What affects what you earn

No two venues earn the same. What matters:

  • Footfall and [dwell time](/glossary/dwell-time). More people who stay longer means more impressions per play.
  • Opening hours and uptime. A screen that is on and online through opening hours earns throughout them.
  • The ad time you give. More time each hour means more plays to sell.
  • Demand. Busy areas and peak hours are worth more to brands.
  • Placement. A screen people can see from where they sit or queue is worth more than one in a corner.

The earnings calculator on the Screen Manager page gives an estimate for your kind of venue.

Will ads put customers off?

Ads only fill the time you give; your menu and offers stay on screen the rest of the time. Ads are short, checked before they play and limited to the categories you allow. Allow the categories your customers care about, and an ad becomes one more thing worth seeing on the screen.

If you would rather not show ads at all, Screen Manager stays free to use for your own content, or you can opt for a subscription that keeps the venue ad-free.

Getting started
